Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

1) Q: I receive an error 0x80004005 when trying to burn an image.
A: Your image file is probably residing on a network, encrypted or compressed volume. Try copying it to a local hard drive (or uncompressing/unencrypting it)

2) Q: When trying to install a 64-bit build I get a message "This installation package is not supported by this processor type"
A: You are trying to install a 64-bit build on a 32-bit operating system. The 64-bit build is for 64-bit OS only. You need to use the regular build.

3) Q: After installing ISO Recorder I do not see any new items in the right-click menu (contrary to what is described in the tutorial)
A: On some occasions ISO Recorder installer will not register components correctly. Here are manual registration instructions
1. Make sure you are logged in as local administrator
2. Open command prompt (Start/Run cmd.exe)
3. Type the following commands: 
cd /D %ProgramFiles%\Alex Feinman\ISO Recorder
regsvr32 isorecorder.dll
imapihelper -Service

4) Q: I get a message saying "Cannot use this disk". I have inserted a blank DVD-R(W). Why is that?
A: Windows XP version of ISO Recorder does not support DVD operations. You cannot record a DVD image or create a DVD-sized image out of the directory contents. You can still make an ISO file out of a existing data DVD. This limitation does not exist in ISO Recorder for Windows Vista.

5) Q: On Windows Server 2003 I get a message "Unrecoverable error in iso recorder. The application will close"
A: Open Admimistrative Tools\Computer Management. Expand Services and Applications and select Services. Make sure that IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service is enabled and set to manual startup type.

6) Q: When copying a CD to an ISO file or to another CD I get an error 00000017 or 00000001
A: This usually happens when copying a damaged or a copy protected disk. Most of the game CDs are copy-protected and cannot be copied.
